Great minds think alike!
I was wondering today whether or not the string of earthquakes in Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey and elsewhere a while back may have been related to something like tectonic weapon testing.

I tend to agree that they are not sophisticated enough to be able to pull off a job like tectonic weapons. I think they would have a less problem setting of a suitcase nuke.

AS for using nukes to trigger earthqaukes, its not possible. PLus, if they really did have nuke technology I think they would rather use it to devastate a European or East Coast city rather than on some isolated fault line which might not even actually trigger a quake.

Thing is , there have always been quakes in Afghanistan, Iran etc. Its a huge fault region as the South ASian plate is moving northwards into the Eurasian plate... This is actually what has caused the formation of the himalayas and hindu kush mountains.

I think the sophistication issue is underated. I see a huge network of information and the passing of it in as many ways as possible, with all the available technology, including networking for tutalage. Pretty sophisticated.

Actually,I read(I don`t have the source) that it is possibe but the amount of nukes and the kilotonnage would be immense MUCH MUCH more than even 100 small suitcase nukes. Also they would have to be strategically planted to have an affect at all. The article was refering to the San Andreas fault. I would think that smaller faults would have an insugnifficant effect in either colateral damage or phsycological effect. Why waste good nukes on that when you could take out a city(s). Plus the San Andreas fault is pretty popular with tourist and is monitored by sismologist(sp). It would be pretty difficult to plant that many weapons without any one noticing.

Yes,planting 20 suitcase nukes in 20 different US cities, and detonating them simultaneously,(oh,horrible, where do I get these ideas??) would have more impact than making an artificial earthquakes..

Ajeeb sometimes translates words like explosion to the word earthquake, so we need to pay attention to the context in which the translated word is used. Sometimes these posts may actually be referring to an "earthquake" but sometimes they are definetely referring to an explosion/hit etc.

Ajeeb is like having half a kidney....Grateful that you have something that sort of works.....and mad that it produces such murky waters...

Excellent point soia. However, some of the most disturbing items we have seen have been english documents.

Good may be a stretch, but I have a few years study of the language.
If you can pop up the Arabic text to this post, or a link to the Arabic text, I can have a look. If it came from Arabforum, I can't read it, though, because it comes up on my screen as something other than an Arabic font.

the nuke earthquake question

I got several replies back from some geologist types. They are all convinced that this is not possible. However one did mention something about the possibility of using Electromagnetic Energy to trigger one. He said it would have to cover several square miles, so yeah that's probably out of the question. I am more inclined to go with the post about the translation problem between earthquake and explosion. Is there any where I can get a translation tool on the web for free? I'm broke a lot. Thanks and keep up the good work troops!

This was posted by AQH. Teh ajeeb translation has been done. The only question that remains - what is the mountain range referring to? Krabisqf - what is that arabic for as a mountain range.

I sent to to some native speakers I met online - they told me - oh , its Pakistan. Then when they realised its contents they quickly shut up... they refused to reveal about the mountains.

"I know where she is found Osama ben Ladin and the god
Osama ben Ladin is found in countries .............. A city .............In Krabisqf mountain
I will not say the country or the city بس on condition of that he is that you are sent to an answer"
